Our Royal Basmati is sourced from the fertile plains of Punjab, Pakistan, where the unique combination of Himalayan snowmelt irrigation, alluvial soil, and continental climate produces the world's most aromatic rice. This extra-long grain basmati is aged for 18 months in climate-controlled warehouses, a traditional process that reduces moisture content and allows the starch to mature. The result: grains that elongate to nearly three times their dry length when cooked, remaining perfectly separate and fluffy. The intoxicating aroma of 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (the compound responsible for basmati's distinctive scent) fills the kitchen before the first bite.
