Kenyan Purple Tea is one of the rarest teas in the world, developed by the Tea Research Institute of Kenya from the Camellia sinensis var. assamica cultivar. Its striking purple leaves contain exceptionally high levels of anthocyanins β the same powerful antioxidants found in blueberries and red wine.
Grown at elevations above 6,500 feet in the Nandi Hills, the tea's unique color is a natural response to intense equatorial UV radiation. The brew produces a beautiful reddish-purple liquor with a smooth, mildly sweet flavor and less bitterness than conventional teas.
Contains 1.5% anthocyanins by weight β 15 times more than blueberries.
